MMMG's Tribute to Women's History Month: Celebrating the Remarkable Women Who Shape Our Legacy
As an MMMG team, we wanted to take a minute to shout out some of the women who have helped us become the people we are today as we celebrate Women’s History Month. These women may only be famous to us, but their efforts and support have inspired us to live lives that continue their legacies.
Shoutouts from the MMMG Team
Abbie:
My grandma on my father’s side made a huge impact on my life, even though she died when I was in second grade. Her legacy challenged me to be a light to those around me despite life’s circumstances. My grandma worked hard and loved even harder. I aspire to be like her every day.
Angela:
I grew up watching my mom build and grow two businesses alongside my father. After raising all three of us kids and handling the businesses, I now look back in amazement. Although there were struggles and hard times, as there still are, she handles everything with such grace, integrity, and grit. She has taught me the meaning of hard work and, throughout the years, has shown me what it takes to get there. Anybody who knows her knows how sweet, compassionate and hardworking she is. She is truly an inspiration, and I will forever be grateful to be able to learn from her.
Becca:
Choosing just one or two women who have inspired me is extraordinarily hard. I have been blessed to work with strong, intelligent women my entire career. I have had bosses and colleagues who have encouraged, pushed, and helped create the person I am today. I am also the luckiest person to have had so many compassionate, sacrificial, smart, and giving women in my family, first and foremost, my mom.
But I would be remiss not to include my grandmothers, sister, aunts, and cousins in the list! A woman is the product of all the women around her, and if I “grow up” to be half the mother, friend, colleague, and boss as the women I know, I will consider it a success!
Emma:
My mom has always shown unwavering support for everything I do. She is my ultimate role model, demonstrating what it means to be a woman in agriculture. I am incredibly grateful for her endless guidance and encouragement.
Jake:
I watched my mom devote her time selflessly to not only her family but her community. With a servant’s heart, she has tirelessly continued to give her time and effort to make sure those around her were happy, healthy and taken care of. She is full of grace and humility and never wavers in support of her kids and grandchildren.
Through adversity, she was always a rock that we knew we could count on for advice, support and love. It’s never easy watching your children grow up and forge their own path in an unfamiliar industry. Through it all, she never stops putting others first and being the loudest cheerleader for her loved ones. I would not be where I am without the drive, tenacity and pursuit of greatness instilled by my mom had I not witnessed her lead by example every day.
Lisa:
My maternal grandmother was one of three daughters of a farmer. Without brothers, she worked the fields beside her dad and later my grandfather. While she could do all the traditional women’s roles, she was also the one who was handy with tools and could fix just about anything. To help put my mom and aunt through college, she took a job outside the home when that wasn’t common. Because she could do anything, I thought I could, too.
Stacy:
Many strong, hardworking women came before me and have helped me to become the woman I am today. As an entrepreneur, my mom showed me that you can blend your personal and work lives and follow your passion. My sisters have supported me throughout my career and filled in as pinch-hit proofreaders when necessary.
My grandmothers showed me that whatever you do, do it with your own spirit and approach.
And one of my great-grandmothers showed me that even in the early 1900s, there was value in a college education.
Ray:
I was fortunate to be raised by a wonderful mom, one of the most hardworking women I know.
She worked as an entrepreneur and showed me, even as a kid, what it meant to lead a company and treat your team with respect.
Now, I appreciate working side-by-side with my wife to do the same for our team.
Wrenn:
My mom is the woman who taught me devotion, hard work, and how to love my own children. Without her selflessness in making me better each day by giving all she has, I would not be where I am today.
My small but mighty circle of smart, kind, and passionate women who make me think big, grow professionally and personally, and are just there for me when I need a shoulder to lean on.
These are the women I am grateful for in my life. Without them, I would not be thriving in life.
